Avatar: Legend of Korra

Following the widely popular series Avatar: The Last Aibender, series creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have been working on the spin-off series Avatar: Legend of Korra. This 12 episode mini-series is set to air in 2012.

1st Official look at Korra from the front. (3/6/11)
Completely badass - bending water and fire simultaneously.
Legend of Korra will take place 75 years after The Last Airbender and will feature all new locations with Republic City being a main focal point. Republic City is said to be a metropolis powered by "steampunk-type" technology that will be populated by people from all four nations. Within Republic City Korra will have to deal with a group of people called Anti-Benders who are strongly against the art of bending along with the rampant crime in the city. Korra herself is described as a rebellious girl from the Southern Water Tribe who is ready to take on the world. She has already mastered the art of bending Water, Earth, and Fire and is now beginning her training in Airbending. Fans will be delighted to see that her Airbending teacher is Aang and Katara's son, Tenzin. Although we know Aang has passed we can still most likely expect to see him in the series as Korra's Avatar guide similar to how Roku taught Aang in The Last Airbender. There is no information yet on whether or not we will see other characters from the original series in Legend of Korra.
