Amy Pond's death on Doctor Who is all but official

*This article contains quotes from the actors and Executive Producer of the show. Everything else is speculation.

The clues have all been there for a long time and I have personally been calling this outcome for quite a while. It appears as though our beloved time-traveling companion to the Doctor on the British sci-fi show Doctor Who may die in the coming season. (Calm down, we are still at least another 9 months away from the next season. Wait... that sucks too! What is going on with this show?!)

In a recent interview, Gillan spoke about how if her character, Amy Pond, was to die on the show she would want it to be a permanent death. She wouldn't want the possibility of coming back or having an alternate Amy pop up. Not soon after Executive Producer, Steven Moffat had come forward and stated that, "The final days of the Ponds are coming," Moffat said. "I'm not telling you when or how, but that story is going to come to a heartbreaking end." As if the shiver sent down fans' spines from these words wasn't enough, Karen Gillan said a little more when she appeared on the BBC show The Graham Norton Show recently.
Karen admitted: "I have known for ages that I am leaving and it’s such a massive relief that it is out and I can speak freely about it," when asked how long she had known that she would be leaving the hit sci-fi show.

She continued: "I’m back next year for a few episodes but it’s not actually confirmed when I go."

Asked if she knows how she will be written out and whether Amy Pond could die, she admitted: "I don’t know, it could be possible."
This, coupled with a few choice words from co-star and current Doctor, Matt Smith, all but put the nail in Amy Pond's coffin.
"It is very disappointing," he admitted at a press screening for the BBC drama last year. "We took over the show and had to hold hands and help each other."
We'll have to wait until this fall to officially find out how and when Amy will be departing the show but her time in the TARDIS will surely be missed.

  1. She could die an old person death. the dr drops her and rory off, has a tardis malfunction then come at the end of her life. Similar to how she first met the doctor.
