Eddie Izzard to star as Grampa Munster?

The first casting for NBC's upcoming Mockingbird Lane (a re-imagining of the 1960's The Munsters) is all but official. Actor/Comedian Eddie Izzard is in final negotiations for the role of Grampa Munster. Written by Bryan Fuller and directed by Bryan Singer, this show will  reinvent the classic show and bring it into a modern audience.
"Izzard will play Grandpa, the Munster family patriarch, a powerful, ancient vampire with an irrepressible twinkle in his eye. He can shapeshift into rats, wolves, and other creatures at will, but he’s also dapper and charming in a fedora; he is a Don Juan-type womanizer with penchant for flashy, sexy outfits."
The casting of Eddie Izzard is spot on for Grampa Munster. You can see from the photo below that Izzard really does look like the original Grampa Munster played by the late Al Lewis.

  1. My mom is already complaining about Hollywood messing up a classic. Haha! I loved the Munsters! I don't know how I feel about a new show yet. :/

    1. I kind of have to agree. They are completely out of ideas and we have clearly entered the age of remakes and reboots. I'll most likely watch the pilot to check how it is.
