Gary Ross may not be back to direct Catching Fire

It appears that Gary Ross, director for The Hunger Games, may not be around to direct the sequel Catching Fire. So far he is not yet signed on for the sequel and may be holding out for a raise since The Hunger Games did so amazingly well earning $363 million. For the first film Ross only earned $3 million to co-write the screenplay and direct the film. Being a veteran film maker he now wants a modest raise. In the past Lionsgate hasn't been known to dish out big raises so the question is whether or not Ross will take Lionsgate's offer or move on and leave Catching Fire to another director.

Whatever happens, they need to act fast. Catching Fire has a tentative release date of November 2013 and will need to start filming very soon if they want to get some footage in with their star Jennifer Lawrence. Pretty soon Fox will exercise their option on Lawrence and take her to film the sequel for X-Men: First Class. If this does happen, it could put things on hold for a while for Catching Fire.

It's unknown what Ross is asking for but The Hunger Games was a wild success and he definitely deserves a modest raise. Do you think Lionsgate should give him the raise or look for director talent elsewhere?
