Could JK Rowling be writing a Doctor Who story?

JK Rowling, the well known author of the Harry Potter series, could be getting ready to write an adventure for Doctor Who! So far this is still all speculation but completely plausible.

As part of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who, the BBC has announced that they will be publishing 11 new short stories (one for each Doctor) written by "well known children's authors". Considering that Doctor Who usually keeps the show a British production, it is very likely that the "well known children's authors" will be those that have had a very strong impact in the UK.

In light of this it is reasonable to assume that JK Rowling would have been contacted about writing one of these stories. However, at the moment the BBC is keeping a very tight lid on who these authors are. A BBC press release stated,
"A paperback of the stories will be published by Puffin in November.

The first children’s author will be revealed on the BBC Worldwide Doctor Who Facebook page on Monday 7 January, followed by the first story on Wednesday 23 January.

A promotional video of each author will also be available each month on the BBC Worldwide YouTube channel starting on Friday 11 January."
Though we will not know the authors that have been chosen and signed on, Hypable has compiled a list of who they feel are best known for their work in fantasy and sci-fi: Anthony Horowitz, Philip Pullman, Alan Garner, Geraldine McCaughrean, Michelle Paver, Susan Price, and Kate Thompson.

Do you think JK Rowling would sign on to write an adventure for the Doctor for Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary? Would you be interested to read what she could create for the Doctor?
