Harrison Ford reportedly signs on as Han Solo in Star Wars Episode VII!

Star Wars fans may have fallen out of their seat when they heard today's reported casting news for Star Wars Episode VII. According to Latino Review, Harrison Ford has agreed to sign on to reprise his role as the Corellian smuggler Han Solo! Ford has spoken out a few months back about how he would be interested in coming back as Solo but only if his character got a death scene in the new film. Could this mean that J.J. Abrams has agreed to this term?

This is undoubtedly very excited news for the Star Wars franchise and reason for all fans to cheer. I am personally a little hesitant to cheer too loudly for two reasons. The first reason is that I want to hold my major celebration until Disney confirms this casting. The second is that this news has the potential to go in either direction; very good or very bad. We all saw what it was like to watch an aged Indiana Jones on the big screen in Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.  Han Solo is an amazing character and I would hate to see that character diminished by this. However, Ford could come back and breath new life into the character and everything could end up just fine. And most importantly, could Solo's return possibly mean that fans may get a glimpse of Han and Leia's children (twins Jaina and Jacen and son Anakin)? How cool would that be!

What do you think about this news? Are you excited to see what Han has been up to since Return of the Jedi?
