Lucasfilm shows off new technology that renders scenes in real time! [video]

Lucasfilm has just released a video that could possibly be showing the future of filmmaking. In the video you watch as scenes from Star Wars are rendered out in real time, possibly removing the need for post-production.

Using motion capture suits and some fancy computer technology you can see in the video that the scenes really are rendered out in real time and they look spectacular! The surroundings can be changed on the fly, the character of the person in the motion capture suit can also be changed on the fly, as well as the lighting in the scene and more. The footage coming out on the computer screens looks smooth as well. It's incredible. I personally think that post-production editing will still be needed but with this new technique it may be brought down to a minimum. This kind of technology will also make a Star Wars television show more likely! Or any show for that matter. Or video games! The possibilities for this new technique are endless!

At the moment I can unfortunately not embed the video into my article but head over to ThatVideoSite to watch this amazing video!!

PS- I also thinks its completely badass that R2-D2 is motion capturing himself. I love that droid!
