RBS' Cosplay Closet - Alice from Alice: Madness Returns

Image
Alice may be a little "insane" in the video game "Alice: Madness Returns" from American McGee but everything seems right with this particular Alice cosplay! Though the cosplayer's identity is unknown, this is by far the best Alice cosplay I have seen. As you can see from the game art below the cosplay photo, this cosplayer has an uncanny similarity to the Alice from the game. Wow! The cosplay itself may be simple and she may not have the exact knife that Alice does in the game, but the perfect facial similarity and body type to Alice makes this cosplay a total success. Wonderful job!

Forging the Sword of Omens from Thundercats! [video]

Tony Swatton from Men at Arms (master master swordsmith and propmaster) has forged one of my favorite swords as a child growing up; the Sword of Omens from the television show Thundercats. The Sword of Omens in the show was wielded by the character Lion-O. Watching the forging process of the weapons that Swatton creates is always fascinating and you learn something new each time. The cool thing about this particular video is that at the end there is a special guest. Matthew Mercer, voice of Tygra on Cartoon Network's Thundercats, makes an appearance and wields the sword and tries it out. Very cool. I still think it is a shame that the new show was canceled.

New Star Wars book is published - William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily, a New Hope! [video]

A new book is coming out that will excite not only sci-fi fans but Shakespeare fans as well. Author, Ian Doescher, has combined Star Wars: A New Hope with Shakespeare to create the book, William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily, a New Hope. "Return once more to a galaxy far, far away with this sublime retelling of George Lucas's epic Star Wars in the style of the immortal Bard of Avon. The saga of a wise (Jedi) knight and an evil (Sith) lord, of a beautiful princess held captive and a young hero coming of age, Star Wars abounds with all the valor and villainy of Shakespeare's greatest plays. 'Tis a tale told by fretful droids, full of faithful Wookiees and fearstome stormtroopers, signifying...pretty much everything. Reimagined in glorious iambic pentameter—and complete with twenty gorgeous Elizabethan illustrations--William Shakespeare's Star Wars will astound and edify Rebels and Imperials alike. Zounds! This is the book you're looking for." If you …

The song was created to Gotye's "Somebody I Used To Know" and is titled "A Character I Used to Know". As usual, the song is funny and the costumes are great! Well done, ladies!

Forging the Orcish Battleaxe from Skyrim! [video]

Watch as master swordsmith and propmaker, Tony Swatton, forges the Orcish Battleaxe from the video game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Every week Swatton forges iconic geek weapons out of live steel and other metals and materials. The end result is truly remarkable and the Orcish Battleaxe is no exception. The final product is stunning.

Watch the intro to Beware the Batman! [video]

Cartoon Network and DC Entertainment have unveiled the new intro to the CG animated series Beware the Batman. The intro is not too long and it shows a few of the shows characters, as well as the Batmobile, in action.

So far, I am personally not sold on this show and the intro didn't really excite me. However, I have heard some positive feedback from the fan community so that's good. Take a look and decide for yourself. And Enjoy!

Beware The Batman will air on Cartoon Network on Saturday, July 13, 2013.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - Production Diary 11. [video]

Peter Jackson has just released a new video blog from the set of The Hobbit and it has some truly great footage!

Jackson starts the video off with some sad news that The Hobbit will not be attending San Diego Comic Con this year due to being busy filming. However, he then gets right into the video blog and it is amazing. The blog follows the cast and crew as they come back to set for pickup shooting almost a year after wrapping principle photography. We also get a fantastic (and hilarious) look at our dwarven friends working out that looks like something straight out of an 80's workout video. Are you getting as excited as I am to see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug when it hits theaters later this year?

First promotional banner for The Walking Dead Season 4!

Image
In order to get fans excited for the return of the show in October The Walking Dead will be holding a panel at San Diego Comic Con. To promote this AMC has released a new promotional banner for the fourth season of the show and it looks great!

The banner features plenty of zombies (known as "walkers" on the show) as well as Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Daryl (Norman Reedus), Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Tyreese (Chad L. Coleman). The characters are all wielding their weapons of choice and we get a glimpse of Michonne taking down some walkers while riding a horse. Very cool. Are you excited for the Comic Con panel? How about the shows return in October?

C-3PO raps in long lost Disney commercial! [video]

Take a look at this long lost commercial from 1986 that was used to promote the Star Wars Star Tours ride at Disneyland. It features a beat boxing R2-D2 and a rapping C-3PO. If that alone doesn't peak your curiosity to watch then I do not know what will. Enjoy!

New featurette for The Wolverine - "A Ronin Story". [video]

A new featurette has been released for The Wolverine and it is titled, "A Ronin Story". A "ronin" is what is known as a samurai without a cause or purpose. Since this movie is taking place after X-Men 3: The Last Stand Wolverine certainly fits this description. Take a look at this great video that walks through what Wolverine will be confronted with in his upcoming film. "Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality." The Wolverine will be in theaters on July 25, 2013.

Batman characters get redesigned in some fantastic fan art!

Image
Check out these fun character redesigns for the characters of the Batman franchise drawn up by artist Huy Hoang Ha. "This is what I always think people would dress up like when I choose to fight crimes at night. It's a little bit more realistic but still have some cartoony-ness in it."  I actually really like these redesigns and it would be cool to see something like this being used for a Saturday morning cartoon. Perhaps even a comic to start. Let me know what you think of these designs in the comments.

Meet Boba Fett: Initial 1978 Boba Fett costume screen test! [video]

On June 28, 1978 one of the most famous Star Wars characters of all time was introduced in his first screen test; Boba Fett. Take a look at this previously unseen screen test footage of Boba Fett in his initial concept suit which was all in white but included all of his weapons and detail that fans love! This video is truly amazing! "Many have seen the early Ralph McQuarrie sketches of Boba Fett sporting the all-white helmet and armor. What you haven't seen is the original white Fett costume in action. A videotape was rolling to capture "proto Fett's" reveal to Lucas and company at the filmmaker's home on June 28, 1978. In the video, sound designer Ben Burtt "hosts" Fett's reveal, describing the different weapons, functions, and characteristics of the costume (worn by Empire's assistant film editor Duwayne Dunham for the test)."

Goodbye Legolas - Orlando Bloom celebrates his last day on The Hobbit set with a song! [video]

Another final day on set was celebrated on the set of The Hobbit and this time it was for our favorite elf, Legolas, played by Orlando Bloom. When The Fellowship of the Ring was released Erwin Beekveld created a funny remix of Legolas shouting "They're taking the hobbits to Isengard!" so to have a little fun the video was shown on set with Orlando watching on. To make things better, Orlando then recorded his own small video of him performing the remix in from of the The Hobbit crew and it is hilarious.  "A day after saying goodbye to Gandalf and Tauriel, it was time to farewell Legolas. What a great day it was, with Orlando battling a serious Orc for all 12 hours of shooting - part of the Battle of the 5 Armies for the third Hobbit movie. When we finally got the day done, we said goodbye to Orlando, had a couple of beers ... and couldn't resist doing this!" A high definition version of Beekveld's video can be seen below with Orlando's live version u…
