Cobie Smulders returns as Maria Hill in Agents of SHIELD!

Image
It was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con that How I Met Your Mother star Cobie Smulders will guest star not only in the pilot episode of the new show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D but will be a recurring guest star on the show as Agent Maria Hill. When questioned about this casting and Cobie's chemistry with Clark Gregg (playing Agent Coulson), Whedon commented that, "I wanted very much to have Cobie in the pilot because as much as anyone else, she IS SHIELD!" "She’s cool and commanding, and has the dry humor that plays so well with Clark’s. Also, if she’s in it I get to hang out with Cobie." Are you excited to see more of Agent Maria Hill in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D?

Watch the first trailer for The Legend of Korra - Book 2! [video]

Fans can finally get their first look at the trailer for season 2 of The Legend of Korra! Book 2 which will be titled "Spirits" will have Korra explore the Spirit Realm and looks to be bigger and better than Book 1. Fans will also be excited to see both older characters (from Avatar: The Last Airbender) and new characters appear throughout the trailer. One character to keep an eye out for is Wan, the first avatar in existence. (More info on Wan can be read in my article here.) The trailer is amazing so I shall let it speak for itself. But I'd just like to say that I love the music in the Avatar series. So beautiful.

The Legend of Korra - Book 2 will air on Nickelodeon in September 2013.

Could Earth be getting its first female Green Lantern?

Image
DC Comics is shaking up the Green Lantern Corps by possibly adding the first female Green Lantern from Earth in Green Lantern history!

This fall there will be a big event titled "Forever Evil" that is being billed as "the first universe-wide event of the New 52".  To promote this big event DC has released the following image of a female Green Lantern.

Granted this image could be a female from any planet but if you tie this promotional teaser with a panel from Green Lantern #20 (seen below) from when writer Geoff Johns finished his run on Green Lantern it makes it much more likely. We also learn that the female's name could be Jessica Cruz.
There are of course still questions surrounding this news but it is exciting all the same! Why is this Jessica Cruz so controversial? Or is the matter in which she gets the ring that is controversial?
Are you excited for Earth's first female Green Lantern?

Get a look at the first Avatar in existence in The Legend of Korra!

Image
The Legend of Korra is about to head in a direction that possibly no fan saw coming; 10,000 years into the past! The Legend of Korra is taking two episodes, which will be titled 'Beginnings 1 & 2', and telling the story of the first ever Avatar. Nickelodeon has hired actor Steven Yeun (aka: Glen from The Walking Dead) to voice the first Avatar who will be named Wan.

"Wan’s story will take place 10,000 years before Korra’s time, and follow the teenage explorer and skilled bender as he tries to bring balance between mankind and the spirits, a quest that ultimately leads to becoming the first Avatar." This is definitely a story that I would love to see and it excites me that the show is doing it. It will be really interesting to 1) see how the avatar came into existence and 2) see how the show depicts the world 10,000 years ago. "These episodes will also mark a significant stylistic departure from the usual aesthetics of Legend of Korra. ”To depict the world i…

First look at a Sentinel head from X-Men: Days of Future Past!

Image
San Diego Comic-Con is in full swing and fans are getting their first look at a lot of great items. One of those items on display is a Sentinel head created at Trask Industries! Sentinels will be featured in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.

I am really excited to see the Sentinels on the big screen (not including the brief appearance in X-Men: The Last Stand). This head looks cool but I can only hope that once we see it in the film that that front glass doesn't head the face too much. Maybe it'll light up or something? Also, I was kind of hoping the Sentinel would be a little bigger (like in X-Men: The Last Stand. Though you don't see its whole body you can get a scale from the massive size of it's head.) What do you think of this reveal?

First Impressions - Amazing Wonder Woman short! [video]

Wonder Woman has had a tough time getting screen time whether it be on the big screen or the small. But if people keep putting out fan films like this one then studios will have to take notice that she can definitely make a great film. From director Leo Kei Angelos, "First Impressions" is a spectacular Wonder Woman short that tackles the question, "What happens when your day job gets in the way of your new relationship?" The short features Hailey Bright as Diana/Wonder Woman, Chester See as The Date and Doug Jones as the Suited Man.

It's not often you find something as great as this for Wonder Woman. The acting was spot on and it left me wanting more. To everyone involved, congrats on a truly wonderful piece!

Be sure to let me know what you thought and if you'd be interested to see something like this made into a full length feature.

Adam Savage's One Day Builds: Han Solo's DL-44 blaster from Star Wars! [video]

Norm from Tested and Adam Savage from Mythbusters have created a new video where they set out to create one of the most iconic guns in sci-fi history, Han Solo's DL-44 blaster from Star Wars. The Star Wars fan base is a group that is really strict when it comes to details so Norm and Adam knew they had their work cut out for them and getting the parts right was extremely important. "Adam has constructed a Blade Runner pistol and Indiana Jones' revolver, but not Han Solo's blaster from Star Wars A New Hope. Fortunately, the makers at the Replica Prop Forum have thoroughly researched the details of this prop and have faithfully recreated the components needed to build it. Adam and Norm run through the blaster's signature details and then work together to assemble this iconic space gun." The video is a bit lengthy at 16 minutes (and detailed on prop parts) but to prop makers and die hard Star Wars fans, this video should be a really fun video to sit down and w…
