BBC releases a new trailer for the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary! [video]

The BBC has released a special Doctor Who 50th Anniversary trailer that celebrates the 50 years of the show. It features a voiceover from the current Doctor, Matt Smith, and has all eleven Doctors pop up in some way. The trailer doesn't feature footage from the anniversary special ("The Day of the Doctor") but instead is a specially shot trailer featuring the Doctors themselves. "Watch the specially-shot trailer for the 50th Anniversary adventure The Day of the Doctor, featuring all of the Doctor's incarnations (and a selection of his friends and foes!)." I know there are a lot of fans who will watch this trailer and fall out of their seats because of how much they love it but I have to say that I cannot join them. I will say that this is a really cool trailer and a good build up for the 50th Anniversary but I don't like how some of the Doctors are shoved to the corner shadow or the room while others get to stand in the limelight. I agree that William …

New official art for the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary features all eleven Doctors!

Image
The BBC have just released an all new artwork image for the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary that features all eleven incarnations of the Doctor.  Seeing all eleven Doctors stand side by side like this looks amazing but the one thing that stands out is that Matt Smith, the eleven Doctor, is looking "at the camera" while the other ten Doctors are looking straight ahead. Could this be a symbolic gesture of some sort? Perhaps implying that he knows something is about to happen and that everything will change (as it has been hinted at about the 50th Anniversary special)? What do you think it could mean?

New TV spot for Batman: Arkham Origins shows you Bruce Wayne's life. [video]

A new TV spot was released for the upcoming Batman video games Batman: Arkham Origins and it takes fans through Bruce Wayne's life in a clever way. Watch as you see Bruce Wayne grow from a young boy into the masked vigilante known as Batman in this new trailer.  "Batman: Arkham Origins lets players experience Batman's transformation from an unrefined vigilante into the Dark Knight. Bruce Wayne's journey to become a crime fighter and his steadfast morality began much earlier in his life, formed by tragedy, dedication, and honor. As you'll see in this latest trailer, his quest was anything but easy. Batman: Arkham Origins features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline occurring several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. Taking place before the rise of Gotham City's most dangerous villains and assassins, the game showcases a young, raw, unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his earl…

Football jerseys from "Batman vs Superman" are revealed!

Image
News hit the web that Zack Snyder would start shooting Batman Vs. Superman at East Los Angeles College during the halftime of their home football game this weekend and that fans could be in the film if they were sitting in the right sections of the stands. Snyder turned the stadium into the Gotham City University stadium were they would be playing their rival Metropolis State University. Fans can now take a look at the two uniforms that will be worn in the film by the teams. The color scheme for the jersey is what you'd expect from the two cities and they look pretty cool. Normal football jerseys aren't usually too elaborate but it's still cool to see these. Enjoy!

Batman turns down Superman's team up proposal in a new hilarious "Badman" video by Pete Holmes!

If comedian Pete Holmes continues to make these hilarious Batman videos and videos like his recent X-Men video, he is going to become really big. I'm also really hoping that he brings some of these videos to his upcoming show on TBS Pete Holmes Show. In this newest video Superman approaches Batman about teaming up and Batman expresses his total lack of understanding on why Superman would want to team up with him. The conversation that follows is truly hilarious.

Steven Moffat states that the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary will change the course of the series!

Image
Fans have been watching the British sci-fi hit Doctor Who for nearly 50 years now but according to show runner Steven Moffat the Doctor's story could just be getting started. The upcoming 50th Anniversary special will set in motion events that will ultimately change the Doctor and how he travels about time and space. During an interview with SFX magazine Moffat stated that,  "We’ve got to set the Doctor off in a brand new direction. It’s chapter two of his life. Now something happens to him that changes the way he thinks and the way he will adventure from now on. You can celebrate an anniversary in many ways – I think the most productive one within the narrative is to say “This is where the story really starts. This is where he finds his mission, he finds his destiny.” He adds: “We’re not fibbing – this one is going to change the course of the series. And it’s very rare in Doctor Who that the story happens to the Doctor. It happens to people around him, and he helps out – he’s…

Tom Hiddleston shows off his dance moves in Korea! [video]

Actor Tom Hiddleston is currently making appearances in Korea and at one appearance he decided to show off his dance moves and prove that he knows how to get down. I have to admit that this short video is impressive. I didn't know that Tom had it in him. So without further ado, I present Loki dancing!

See the original teaser trailer for Star Wars - Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back! [video]

Recently the Star Wars YouTube channel posted the original 1976 Star Wars teaser trailer and now they have just posted the original teaser for The Empire Strikes Back! The cool thing about this teaser is that it features no actual footage from the movie! Now that is a bold move. The teaser is made up of concept art created by artist Ralph McQuarrie. "Watch the original teaser trailer for The Empire Strikes Back, which is notable for featuring solely concept art by Ralph McQuarrie but no film footage. Among the McQuarrie paintings seen are the Rebel hangar on Hoth, Luke on a tauntaun, Darth Vader aboard a Star Destroyer, Cloud City, an Imperial probe droid, and Luke's final duel with Darth Vader."

Superman 75th Anniversary animated short celebrates Superman through the years! [video]

In honor of the 75th Anniversary of Superman, Zack Snyder and Bruce Timm have created a truly brilliant animated video that celebrates Superman through the years. This video is absolutely stunning. "From the creative minds of Zack Snyder (Man of Steel) and Bruce Timm (Superman: The Animated Series) and produced by Warner Bros. Animation, this short follows Superman through the years, from his first appearance on the cover of Action Comics #1 to Henry Cavill in this year's Man of Steel...all in two minutes!"

The Lord of the Rings In Real Life - Gandalf attempts to stop tourists in NYC! [video]

Improv Everywhere puts together some of the greatest videos of all time and if you live in the New York area you should definitely look into joining them on their next public event. If you do not live in the New York area you can watch all of their great videos on YouTube. (From time to time you will see stuff being done out of New York City as well.) "For our latest mission we recreated the famous "You shall not pass!" scene from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, placing Gandalf the Grey on Central Park's iconic Bow Bridge. Rather than facing off against a Balrog as he did on the Bridge of Khazad-dûm, this time Gandalf faced an even more daunting foe, Central Park tourists. The tourists proved to be too powerful for Gandalf, as nearly every one was able to successfully pass." This cracked me up and I wish I could have seen it in person. "Ooooooh my god... I have lost the hobbits."

Professor X fires Wolverine from the X-Men in this great sketch from the Pete Holmes Show! [video]

I always enjoy a good comedy sketch and Pete Holmes, host of the new Pete Holmes Show on TBS nailed this one. The sketch is titled "Ex-Men: Wolverine". "Professor X tries explaining to Wolverine that his powers are a liability in this sketch that debuted during "The Pete Holmes Show" panel at New York Comic Con. Did you like this sketch? Be sure to watch more installments of "Ex-Men" on the "Pete Holmes Show." We premiere on October 28th after "Conan," and we'll be on weeknights at midnight/11 central."

Fun art mash-up combines Link (The Legend of Zelda) and Darth Maul (Star Wars)!

Image
Artist Frankie Perez has created this unique piece of fan art that combines The Legend of Zelda (video game franchise) with Star Wars (movie franchise). In it, the Sith apprentice Darth Maul is depicted as the hero from the The Legend of Zelda game (which is normally Link) and is wearing his tunic and wielding his shield. Maul is still wielding his own double-sided lightsaber however. This kind of mash-up/crossover would definitely make things interesting in The Legend of Zelda that's for sure. The idea of a Sith/Jedi using a shield capable of deflecting a lightsaber is also a unique idea.

So what do you think of this piece? Are there any elements that really stand out to you?

Screen Junkies has released their newest "Honest Trailer" and it focuses on the hit AMC show The Walking Dead. You can tell that the crew of Screen Junkies had fun creating this video as they just rip into every aspect of the show. Nothing was safe. "The Walking Dead is back! We take a look back at the first three seasons to revisit all "the group" discussion, all the inconsistent excitement, and all the Shane head rubbing! - Careful future show-runners! Its a dead zone out there!" Enjoy!

Two working titles for Star Wars Episode VII are revealed!

Image
There is some exciting news about Star Wars: Episode VII thanks to Latino Review concerning the possible name of the film! They are reporting that two working titles have been turned over to Disney but that there is no guarantee that either of them will ultimately be used.

The two current working titles are "Return of the Sith" and "Rise of the Jedi". If these are the final two choices I think I would be much happier with "Rise of the Jedi". Latino Review stated that, "I think that Return of the Sith is too close to both Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith to use again. Ultimately it feels like too much of a rehash," and I completely agree. And with Luke needing to train up the next generation of Jedi, "Rise of the Jedi" makes sense.

So what do you think of these working titles? Does one stick out to you as the better choice?

New villain for Star Wars Rebels is revealed at New York Comic Con!

Image
At New York Comic Con this weekend LucasFilm held a panel on the upcoming Disney XD show Star Wars Rebels. I was in attendance for the panel and it was filled with a lot of great information. One of the big reveals came at the end of the panel when panel host Pablo Hidalgo (from LucasFilm) showed the fans in attendance one of the new villains that will be featured in the new show. The villain is called an "Inquisitor" and he is tasked by Darth Vader to hunt down the remaining Jedi Knights. The Inquisitor looks awesome and very "Sith like". You can see the first photograph of the Inquisitor below. I'm really excited for this show and excited to see what this new villain can bring to the story.

Star Wars Rebels will debut on Disney XD in 2014.
