Looks like the Scarlet Spider may be hinted at in The Amazing Spider-Man 2!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 looks like it is going to be filled with various characters and references and another big one has just been hinted at! SONY has launched a great viral campaign in the form of The Daily Bugle. In the Bugle's newest article, they speak about live cloning.
"Manhattan’s Empire State University announced a new class for the 2014 fall semester in advanced biogenetics that will actually require the successful cloning of a living creature. Introduction to Live Cloning, taught by noted geneticist Professor Miles Warren, is the first class of its kind anywhere in the world.
When asked about the ethical aspects of teaching a class on how to clone living cells, Warren said, “Our responsibility is to educate our students and prepare them for life. For those who study genetics or biology, cloning will be a fact of life.”
The ethical aspects of cloning are irrelevant to Warren, who added, “We are cloning single-celled amoeba. Maybe one day we’ll work our way up to mice. There is no ethical dilemma. Save your red flag for when I start cloning co-eds…”"
The extremely interesting thing about this new article is that it seems as though the film may be setting up the Clone Saga seen in the comics. Professor Miles Warren also went by the alter ego "The Jackal" and fans of the Spider-Man comics may know that it was The Jackal that created the clone of Peter Parker that later takes on the alias of Ben Reilly and then becomes "Scarlet Spider". To further this theory, the author of this Bugle article is Ken Ellis who happened to be the reporter at the Daily Bugle who gave the Scarlet Spider his name! The clues are all there and I think it'll be really interesting to see where this all goes. There are many out there who were not fans of the Clone Saga but I personally like the Scarlet Spider as a character so it'll be fun to see him eventually come to the big screen.

With the recent announcement of two spin-off films that will focus on the Sinister Six and Venom it is likely that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 may plant the seeds for the Scarlet Spider character and then have him make his appearance in one of those films.

Would you be interested to see the Scarlet Spider make his big screen appearance? Do you think the Clone Saga will work on the big screen or will they have to change/further introduce anything?
