Marvel is reportedly in talks with Johnny Depp for the role of Dr. Strange!

The "Latino Review" has been the source of some pretty amazing news scoops in the past and it seems as though they have uncovered some big news concerning Marvel's future plans for the Dr. Strange film. They are reporting that Marvel is in early talks with actor Johnny Depp to play the role of Dr. Strange!

Their source is telling them that Depp has already taken one meeting with Marvel and is very interested in taking the role. Fans may know that Depp has already signed on to do a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film but it appears that if he takes the role of Dr. Strange that Disney will have no problem shifting around production of Pirates so that he can do both. (Guess it helps when both films are coming from Disney.)

"Of note, if Johnny Depp does decide to don the cape, it would involve a bit of a script overhaul. I spoke to El Mayimbe, and he was quick to note that the original script had a 30-year-old Dr. Strange. He has an intimate knowledge of the script (you can check out his in-depth analysis HERE and HERE), but he agrees with me that Marvel wouldn’t hesitate to alter things if it meant signing a star on the level of Johnny Depp." 

Right now Dr. Strange is set to be a part of Marvel's Phase 3 of films so we wont see this film until at least 2016. However, Latino Review makes a great point when they say that fans may get their first glimpse of Dr. Strange in a post-credits sequence for Avenger: Age of Ultron.

This is a tough call for me because I like Johnny Depp as an actor but he comes with a lot of baggage that I would want to stay away from Marvel films. His last several roles have all been the same kind of core character with all the same mannerisms and I wouldn't want that to leak into Dr. Strange. If Depp can separate all of that and be the great actor that he can be, or used to be, then I think this could be a success.
