The BBC releases a new Doctor Who poster as well as a new Season 8 trailer and air date! [video]

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the start of the 8th season of Doctor Who since Christmas and it appears that they will not have to wait much longer!

It has been officially announced that Doctor Who will return on August 23, 2014 at 8pm ET on BBC America. The first episode of the season will be titled "Deep Breath" and will feature actor Peter Capaldi in his first episode as the Doctor since his regeneration episode on Christmas. Actress Jenna Coleman will be returning as Clara Oswald, the Doctor's companion.

Along with the air date the BBC also released a new Season 8 poster that features Capaldi and Coleman standing in the TARDIS as well as a new teaser trailer.

The teaser trailer is short at just 20 seconds but offers a lot of interesting footage. We see the TARDIS console room in flames and sparks flying off the console but is this purely just for promotional purposes or can we expect this to happen in the show? We also get a glimpse of both the Doctor and his companion, Clara, questioning who exactly the Doctor is. Very interesting. I wonder how long it'll take Clara to get used to the new Doctor.
