Mexican Harry Potter fan smashes Guinness World Record for most Harry Potter memorabilia!

Just one small section of the record holding collection.
Until now the previous record for the most Harry Potter memorabilia was set at 807 items. This summer however, that record has been smashed by a Harry Potter super fan from Mexico.

Menahem Asher Silva Vargas of Mexico is now the new Guinness World Record holder for Harry Potter memorabilia. At 37 years old, Vargas has broken the record with 3,092 items! This also does not count the "373 magazine clippings, full magazines, advertising posters, autographs and newspaper clippings he owns that are not considered collector's items for record purposes." That is really impressive!
"I love the story of Harry Potter," Menahem said. "It is my inspiration, my lifestyle. I really love the magic and I want to be known in all world as the biggest fan of 'the boy who lived'."
What might be more impressive is that Vargas only started his collection of Harry Potter memorabilia in 2001, four years after the release of the first book and the same year as the release of the first film. There may not have been an abundance of memorabilia before the first film but you can be sure that collectors were searching out the small list of items that were available.

Vargas' collection includes trading cards, board games, action figures, key chains, replica wands, hats, pins, and much more. His favorite item however is a "circular wall ornament that contains a photo of Harry in the Chamber of Secrets, given to him by his mother as a gift for Children's Day."

Vargas even has a grand vision of what he would like to do with his collection which is admirable. He wants to find a way that he share his collection with the world.
"I imagine creating an interactive site where I can one day share my treasures," he said, "and invite J.K. Rowling, all the actors who gave life to this magical history, and fans from around the world. That's my dream!"
This collection is sure to grow as a new film trilogy is set to come out with Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them and the expansion of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter if Vargas makes it out to Universal's Islands of Adventure in Florida.

This is one impressive collection. How does your own collection stack up against the Guinness World Record holder?
