Details about Star Wars Episodes VIII and IX revealed?

Some new information has made its way online about upcoming Star Wars films. This time however, the information is not about Star Wars: The Force Awakens but instead about Star Wars: Episode VIII and IX. We already know that at the moment Episode VIII and IX will be directed by Rain Johnson but other than that we are pretty much in the dark.

*Possible spoilers ahead.*

Daily Beast was able to obtain an email from co-President of Production for Columbia Pictures Michael De Luca to Sony Pictures Entertainment co-Chairman Amy Pascal that spoke about the general focus of the film.
"Rian Johnson as you know is doing the main ones, episodes 8 and 9 of the Luke and Leia story lines, after JJ. Not sure anything is gained by looking at what Lucasfilm is doing except we are stalking all these people too."
If this winds up being true it sort of lines up with past rumors that in The Force Awakens Harrison Ford, aka Han Solo, would be a co-lead. It's rather interesting if this is the route that will be taken and stories will once again revolve around the original trio. I had expected them to more be mentors in these films passing down the torch.

Do you think it is a good idea to center more films around Luke, Leia, and Han? Or do you think it's time to pass the legacy down to a new generation?
