Hugh Jackman cast as Blackbeard in upcoming Peter Pan film!

Image
Warner Bros. has made a big announcement concerning their upcoming untitled Peter Pan film and comic movie fans will be happy. It has been revealed that Hugh Jackman has just been cast in "Peter Pan" as the film's villainous pirate, Blackbeard!

Jackman will join the cast alongside actor Garrett Hedlund who will be playing Captain Hook. The role of Peter Pan has not yet been filled. This film, directed by Joe Wright, will focus on an orphan who is taken to a magical land and becomes a hero to the natives when he battles the villainous pirates. An interesting twist to the story is that it appears that Peter will fight along side Captain Hook as an ally against the main antagonist, Blackbeard. Perhaps by the end of the film we'll see why Captain Hook and Peter Pan really become enemies.

Do you think that Jackman can pull off a convincing villainous pirate?

"Peter Pan" will fly into theaters on July 17, 2015.

Darth Vader tries to be a good father in funny comic: Star Wars: The Empire Nices Back!

Image
Luke Skywalker's anguish at finding out that Darth Vader is his father in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (spoiler? ha) is understandable but what would it have been like if the scene had gone down in a nicer way?  Take a look at this great comic from Tony Wilson and Dorkly that shows Darth Vader trying to be a good father after all those years away from his son.

A Street Fighter Picnic! [video]

If you have ever wondered what your the cast of your favorite video does during their down time you can now stop! The cast of Street Fighter shows us that they go on picnics! How nice. "The Cast of Street Fighter decide to take a break from fighting to enjoy a nice meal, only to be interrupted...." This video is extremely funny and I think its great that the cast is gender bent which made everything funnier. Great job!

First promotional photos from the film The Giver are released!

Image
The first promotional images have just been released for the movie adaptation of Lois Lowry's 1993 classic The Giver. With Jeff Bridges taking on the title character of The Giver, this film will be different than the book in a few ways. "“The movie will not be an exact duplication of the book. It’s taking a lot of licenses,” says Bridges. The Chief Elder (played by Meryl Streep, Bridges’ first choice for the role), for example, takes on a more significant role than in the book." Another big stand out difference that you'll see in the photos is that the main character of Jonas will no longer be 12 years old. Instead the film has aged him to 16. This is a rather unusual move and one that many fans of the book may not like. Not many may know but Jeff Bridges has been trying to get this film made for almost 20 years and is very passionate about the book and film. With this in mind I have faith that he would not hurt the film. "Fans can rest easy knowing that Lowry ha…

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game trailer brings in new Spidey villain! [video]

The first official trailer is released for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game and it has a big surprise attached to it. A often forgotten villain seems to be making an appearance but not in the role that you would expect. Kraven the Hunter will be in this new game and its peculiar that he seems to be in a mentor role to Spider-Man rather than the game's villain. Or could it all be a ruse to get close to Spidey? I guess we'll have to play the game to find out! "The Amazing Spider-Man is back! This spring, take control of Peter Parker in an all-new adventure: use your strength, speed, and cunning to take on new foes and even greater challenges. The stakes are higher than ever... Are you ready to return to Manhattan?" Enjoy!

Visually the game looks pretty good but at the moment the most interesting parts seem to be Kraven's role and that Spider-Man seems to be using black webbing in a few sections of this trailer.

Leaked child's costume of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shows off their new look!

Image
Nothing is confirmed just yet but Midtown Comics may have just come across a child's costume that shows off the new look for the Ninja Turtles that will be used in the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. It is important to remember that more often than not a child's costume does no justice to what they are trying to portray. Although this picture is not yet confirmed to be real I would also like to point out that this look does match the toy description given for Michelangelo that I report on January 3rd. So it looks like this may be the new look for the Turtles. This photo makes me a little nervous but I am going to hold my thoughts until we see what the real Turtles look like but I'm interested to know what my readers think. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

First trailer for Marvel's Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher! [video]

Marvel is taking another stab at an animated film and this time they are focusing on the Avengers to bring them some success. The film will be titled "Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher". One of the interesting things to note for this film is that although the film will focus on the characters of Black Widow and Punisher, it introduces a new character to the Marvel animated universe, Carol Danvers (aka Captain Marvel)! That is pretty cool.   "Marvel's Avengers Confidential: Black Widow and Punisher focuses on the two characters teaming up after Punisher is taken into custody by S.H.I.E.L.D. They're up against a new terrorist organization called "Leviathan" that has been stealing S.H.I.E.L.D. tech." Breathtaking art piece features a paper Smaug from The Hobbit!

Image
Wow! Take a look at this breath taking piece of art from Danish artist Victoria, Deviant Art user "Far Too Many Ideas", that an amazing paper sculpture of Smaug from The Hobbit. The truly inspiring thing about the sculpture is that it is made the pages of a Danish copy of The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. To add an extra level of awesomeness, there is even a little paper Bilbo Baggins hiding behind the cover of the book from Smaug. "Made this before the movie came out, though after watching the trailer many many times. That one clip, where we first got a good glimpse of him, is what inspired this "pose". The sculpture was going to happen anyways (since I love the story, the book itself for it, and I love making sculptures), but the trailer gave me this specific idea." This piece of art is truly amazing.

"LEGO Invasion!" LEGO figures in real life! [video]

Check out this great fan film that features LEGO mini figures as though they were real people in real life. The video itself is well done and hosts an assortment of great characters like Spider-Man, Captain America, and Batman and is quite entertaining. The music in the video is also really well done as it changes slightly as each character comes on screen to sneak in the character's theme. Well done!  "Our protagonist finds a case full of magical golden lego bricks and is chased by gold-hungry minifigures." Enjoy!

Doctor Who fan art from 1976 drawn by Peter Capaldi!

Image
I have a really cool treat for Doctor Who fans out there in the form of some great fan art. Drawn and submitted to the Doctor Who International Fan Club Magazine in 1976, this great piece featuring the TARDIS was drawn by an 18 year old Peter Capaldi. Capaldi was a regular submitter to the magazine and it's amazing that now 38 years later he will be piloting the TARDIS himself.

Video game actions that would be creepy in real life. [video]

Characters have some pretty weird habbits in video games (hording items that you'll never use) but gamers usually think nothing of them and freely do them anyway. But what would it be like if we did some of these actions in real life? Check out this funny video from Buzz Feed that shows us. Enjoy!
