Could Marvel be canceling their Fantastic Four comics to snub Fox?

Image
It is being reported that Marvel could be planning a way to get the rights of their Fantastic Four characters back from Twentieth Century Fox. How? Be canceling all Fantastic Four comics which would include both the 616-Universe and the Ultimate Universe!

A few years back when Marvel had gone into bankruptcy, they had sold the rights to the Fantastic Four to Fox but it has always haunted Marvel that they do not own the founding family's rights. (The Fantastic Four is unarguably the founding family of the Marvel name.) By canceling all Fantastic Four comics Marvel hopes to stop promoting the characters owned by Fox and therefore hurt sales of the films. It should be known that although the title comics will end that the characters themselves will still appear in other comics such as The Avengers.

Although this is currently still a rumor things seem to be pointing in the direction that this could be true. Ultimate FF #6 comes with the following solicitation:

At this point actor Hugh Jackman and the X-Men character Wolverine are synonymous with each other. But let's take a look back to a time when Jackman was just trying to land the role like many other actors out there. An audition tape from 1999 has surfaced that features Jackman reading lines for the part of Wolverine with director Bryan Singer. The audition includes some lines of dialogue seen in the film as well as some that was eventually cut. This video is an interesting look into the history of the X-Men franchise and a look at the start of the character Wolverine that so many would come to love in the films. Enjoy!

Great infographic counts up ever death in the Indiana Jones films!

Image
If you are a big fan of the Indiana Jones franchise you'll love this infographic created by "moviepilot". The infographic is titled "Indiana Jones and The Whip of Doom" and breaks down every film in the franchise (except "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". That film doesn't exist.) and tallies up all the deaths that occurred and who had what number of deaths. Some of the figures may surprise you. It also includes a section at the bottom outlining just why Indiana Jones is so awesome. I know I couldn't agree more with the given reasons.

Roland Emmerich is set to bring Stargate back to the big screen with a new trilogy!

Image
Huge news sci-fi fans! Stargate is returning to the big screen! That's right!! This news excites me to no end as I am a huge Stargate fan!

Warner Bros. and MGM have agreed to develop a new trilogy of films based on the incredible 1994 sci-fi film Stargate. Roland Emmerich is returning as writer and director with Dean Devlin returning to once again produce. To have these two return to the franchise is such incredible news.

Emmerich and Devlin have worked on these films for years but have never been given the green light to go ahead with the project. Fans may remember Emmerich commenting how they had always intended to do a Part 2 and 3 to the 1994 film but were not given the go. Now it looks like he will finally have his chance to tell his story.

When I saw Stargate in 1994 I instantly fell in love with it. It mixed my love of sci-fi and Egyptian mythology and it was only natural that when the television shows came around I fell in love with those as well. Emmerich has commented t…

Josh Brolin cast as Thanos in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy!

Image
Some big Marvel news was announced today with the casting of Thanos for the upcoming film Guardians of the Galaxy! It has been confirmed that actor Josh Brolin has been signed on to at least voice the character of Thanos.

It's currently unknown how large of a role Thanos will have in Guardians of the Galaxy but we do know that he is not the main villain. He will however be seen pulling the strings to suit his needs. The main villains of the film are Ronan the Accuser, Nebula and Yondu.

The choice to cast Brolin is great. The actor has wonderful range and a voice that could really suit the character. I'm sure when the time comes for Thanos to come out of the shadows as the main villain to the Avengers, Brolin may still be around to slip on the Infinity Gauntlet.

Are you excited at this casting choice?

Director Colin Trevorrow confirms rumors and plot points for Jurassic World!

Image
A lot of film details popped up recently about the upcoming film Jurassic World and what we read was pretty interesting. However, this is not how director Colin Trevorrow wanted fans to find out about the film's secrets. Trevorrow has decided to take a proactive approach to the news leak and speak out about the film instead of letting bits of information spiral out of control about his film.

Colin Trevorrow spoke with /Film's Peter Sciretta and shared some amazing news on the film and what fans can expect on the story.
"What do you feel are the biggest misconceptions from the leaked rumors about the Jurassic World story versus the real screenplay? That’s the thing about leaks, sometimes they aren’t misinterpreted or false. They’re real story elements that the filmmakers were hoping to introduce to the audience in a darkened movie theater. But unfortunately, in 2014, you read about it on a computer. Last week was discouraging for everyone on our crew–not because we want to …

Charlie Cox confirmed as Daredevil for the new Marvel Netflix series!

Image
It's official! Marvel has cast actor Charlie Cox (Stardust, Boardwalk Empire) for the role of Daredevil in their upcoming Netflix series. Cox may not be well known to the public but a role as a Marvel superhero could be just the thing he needs to launch his career to a new level.

Many fans may be hesitant to watch the Daredevil series as they cannot forget the tragedy of how bad the film was but I think most will be willing to give it a shot now that Marvel is at the helm and in control of the character.

This casting announcement comes in the wake of the recent news that writer-director Drew Goddard would be leaving the show. Marvel has since hired Steven S. DeKnight, Spartacus, to replace Goddard.

Honest Trailers - Alice In Wonderland! [video]

Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland is an odd film that has a found a loyal fanbase and a hated fanbase. Even though fans of the classic tale were so split on the film, it didn't stop it from making a billion dollars at the box office! This was a film that although I enjoyed, I thought it felt too much like Burton's previous films and I didn't like that he gave Johnny Depp such a large role playing such a small character. It appears that the folks over at Screen Junkies agrees and has created another brilliant "Honest Trailer" where they truly pick apart the Tim Burton film that will have even the most loyal fan laughing.
"Fall down the rabbit hole once again with "Alice in Wonderland," visionary Tim Burton's not-so-visionary take on the classic story." Enjoy!

Possible photo of Superman's new suit from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice surfaces!

Image
Take a look at this new photo that has surfaced that is being claimed to be from Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The photo looks like is a costume mold for Superman's updated suit for the film. So far there is no confirmation that this is a real mold from the film but if it is you can see that the suit will be getting a slight update from Man of Steel. What do you think of the slight redesign for Superman's suit? I think it's weird that the "S" so big now. But it does look like the larger "S" suit seen in The Dark Knight Returns. (Which was the influence for Batman's suit in this film.)

Spider-Man is not allowed to play with the Avengers in this adorably fun art piece!

Image
Poor Spider-Man. The Avengers have gained the attention of the geek community, pop culture, and society in general but one teammate has been left behind; Spider-Man. Take a look at this funny art piece from artist Mauricio Abril titled "Poor Spidey". You'll see the cast of The Avengers on set having some fun while Spidey is being dragged off by studio security. The piece is really fun and adorably drawn. "I suppose this is what happens when you cross fan art with social commentary. I came up with the idea for this gag illustration after watching 'The Amazing Spiderman 2' on opening weekend, but only just now got around to finishing it. It pretty much summarizes how I felt about the new franchise, the larger Marvel cinematic universe and the realities of binding contracts." It's sad that because of character rights and contracts that we won't see Spider-Man together with his Marvel friends on the big screen for a long time, if ever.

Doctor Who almost ended with David Tennant and Russell T Davies' departure!

Image
It may be hard to imagine with the recent boom in popularity but it appears that the hit British sci-fi show Doctor Who was being considered to be ended back in 2008. Steven Moffat has revealed that the BBC considered ending the show when the then 10th Doctor, David Tennant, along with the showrunner, Russell T. Davies, announced their departures from the show.

When speaking at the Hay Literary Festival, Moffat had this to say concerning the matter. "I think there were plans maybe to consider ending it," said Moffat. "It was Russell T Davies saying, 'You are not allowed to end it' [that kept it going]." He continued, "David owned that role in a spectacular way, gave it an all-new cheeky sexy performance and became a national treasure. So the idea that Doctor Who could go on at all in the absence of David was a huge question. "I didn't realise how many people thought it wouldn't succeed at all. That was quite terrifying when I found o…

Director Colin Trevorrowhas tweeted a new photo for his film Jurassic World that shows off a patch that a Jurassic World veterinarian will wear on his park uniform. When the park is running someone is going to have to look after the dinosaurs and that is where the Isla Nublar Veterinary Service comes in. I think this is really cool! Check out the patch below.

Jurassic World will be in theaters on June 12, 2015.

Beautiful silhouette art series features Link, Batman, and Samus Aran!

Image
Take a look at this great silhouette art series by artist Bruce Yan that features Link (Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda), Batman, and Samus Aran (Nintendo's Metroid). I like that Yan touched on both comics and video games in this set and chose characters that I particularly am a fan of. On top of that the art is exceptionally well done. It is simple and yet still has the needed details to make each character stand out. Very well done, Bruce Yan!

The Doctor dances The Time Warp in The Hillywood Show's new Doctor Who parody! [video]

The Hillywood Show has released their newest musical parody video and this time it features the hit British sci-fi show Doctor Who. Watch as the 10th Doctor and his companions land the TARDIS and join his enemies in a dance routine of "Time Warp" from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. As always, the outfits and cosplays featured in the video are top-notch and really make the video stand out. The Hillywood Show always does an amazing job with their videos and this video is no exception.
"It's the DOCTOR WHO musical parody you've been waiting for! Join The Tenth Doctor, an alien Time Lord who travels through time and space in his TARDIS, in an eye-catching parody that's out of this universe. People assume that a parody is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big video of wibbly-wobbly, Time Warp stuff. Like the TARDIS, The Hillywood Show® makes a production that's bi…

The evolution of the TARDIS key on Doctor Who.

Fans who have watched closely may have noticed that the key to the TARDIS on Doctor Who has changed its appearance as many times as the Doctor himself has.
