The X-Files is confirmed to return for a six episode event!

When it came to television in the mid 90's, there was certainly one show that stood out among the rest; X-Files. It has been 13 long years since the show left the airwaves in 2002 but the time have come to get FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully back together.

For those not in the know, "The X-Files follows FBI special agents Scully (Anderson) and Mulder (Duchovny) as they investigate unexplained cases – “X-Files” – for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena."

Rumors had been circulating but it is now confirmed that show creator Chris Carter along with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are coming back for a six episode event.
"“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” said Carter. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”"
It'll certainly be interesting to see what they can do in just six episodes and six stories but the news is definitely exciting fans everywhere. The unfortunate thing is that this show is returning at a time where the media is put under such a strong microscope by its fans that it will certainly have a lot to live up to. Given how amazing the show was at it's peak, it'll be very difficult for the show to be as good as it was back then. However, we can cross our fingers and hope that Chris Carter blows us away with this limited return.

You may be saying that it actually hasn't been 13 years since the last time we saw Mulder and Scully and you would be right. In 2008 there was the sequel film The X-Files: I Want To Believe. This film however was not as good as fans were hoping it would be and even some dedicated fans didn't even bother seeing it because of reviews and trailer footage.

At the moment there is no word as to what the new stories will be about but production is set to start this coming summer with no concrete release date.

I was a very big fan of The X-Files so this is wonderful news. I am hoping that they bring some amazing stories forward and cannot wait to see where Mulder and Scully are now. Are you excited at the show's return?

The Truth Is Out There.
