Netflix will offer audio descriptions for their shows for the visually impaired starting with Marvel's Daredevil.

Netflix announced yesterday that they are moving forward with plans to offer audio descriptions of their shows to their customers so that the visually impaired can enjoy their programs as much as everyone else.

The first show that will offer these audio descriptions is Marvel's Daredevil which centers around a blind vigilante trying to clean up the streets of Hells Kitchen in New York City. These audio descriptions are something that has been requested by Netflix customers for some time and Netflix is finally answering the call.
"Audio description is a narration track that describes what is happening on-screen, including physical actions, facial expressions, costumes, settings and scene changes. Customers can choose audio narration just like choosing the soundtrack in a different language.
In coming weeks, we'll add more titles, including current and previous seasons of the Golden Globe and Emmy award-winning political thriller House of Cards, Emmy award-winning comedy-drama series Orange is the New Black, as well as Tina Fey’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and the epic adventure series Marco Polo."
I think this is a great idea and will ultimately help Netflix grow in terms on their customer base. The audio descriptions for Daredevil are now available.
