Could Daredevil Season 2 really be "Daredevil vs Punisher"?

The first season of Marvel and Netflix's Daredevil was a smash hit with fans everywhere. It was the darker side of Marvel that fans have been waiting for and the anticipation for Season 2 started the moment that Season 1 ended. Fans grew more excited for the upcoming season when actor Jon Bernthal was cast as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher.

Now Nerdist is reporting from an inside source that co-showrunner Marco Ramirez has been calling the Season 2 "Daredevil vs The Punisher". Find out more inside the full article!

Details on what "Daredevil vs The Punisher" means is so far unknown but looking at how the first season of the show ended and the characters themselves you can start to put some of the pieces together.

*Spoilers for the finale of Season 1 ahead.

At the end of the first season Daredevil puts Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, in jail. This will obviously create a power vacuum that other villains will want to try to fill. I could see the Punisher coming to Hell's Kitchen to try to stop this from happening. However, given that Daredevil is more hand to hand combat oriented (as well as using his billy clubs at times) and Punisher is more firearm oriented, I could see the two going toe to toe on the moral differences of their combat style. Daredevil wouldn't want someone coming in shooting everyone and would step in to stop him. So the "vs" title could be looked at two ways; two fighting styles clashing in the same neighborhood and a physical fight if it comes to it.

There are also unconfirmed rumors that Bullseye and Elektra will appear in Season 2. Perhaps Daredevil and Punisher could team up at the end of the season to fight Bullseye. Maybe even after he kills Elektra.

What do you think "Daredevil vs The Punisher" could mean? What kind of things would you want to see in Season 2?

Daredevil Season 2 will stream on Netflix in 2016.
