First official photos of Melissa Benoist as Supergirl are released!

Image
Supergirl is ready to take flight! ABC and DC Comics have officially released the first images of actress Melissa Benoist who will be playing Kara Zor-El / Kara Danvers in her full Supergirl suit!

In the upcoming Supergirl show, Kara has been hiding out on Earth since the destruction of her planet and has been hiding her powers (powers that mirror her cousin's, Kal-El aka Superman). Now, at the age of 24 she has decided to embrace her abilities and become the hero she was destined to be.

The costume for Supergirl was designed by Colleen Atwood. Atwood's work can also be seen on the CW's Arrow and The Flash as well as the films Alice in Wonderland, Memoirs of a Geisha and Chicago. Concerning the costume Atwood stated;
"“In designing Supergirl, I wanted to embrace the past, but more importantly, thrust her into the street-style action hero of today.”" I have to say that I love the look that they have given her and really appreciate that they kept the overall feel o…

See the new Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer recut to include Spider-Man!

Image
The newest trailer for Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron was released this week and one fan has already created a great recut trailer that includes Spider-Man fighting along side the Avengers. The Spidey footage is taken from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and gives us a look at what Spider-Man's inclusion in the MCU will look like.

The recut trailer is a lot of fun and exciting to see Spidey swinging into action with the Avengers but I personally think they put a little too much emphasis on Spidey in this trailer. But all the same it is well worth watching! You can see the original trailer here to see the differences. Enjoy!

Jedi and Sith battle it out in this fun lightsaber duel from Resistance Pictures.

Image
Check out this cool lightsaber battle created by Resistance Pictures as their entry for the twelfth Lightsaber Choreography Competition. This is a really fun video and a well choreographed fight and the impressive part is that it was filmed entirely in a single shot! It is mentioned that the footage is sped up when the sith stands up but only in that particular spot. This fight is a lot of fun and my compliments go out to Resistance Pictures.

Warner Bros. CEO says DC films will stand out from Marvel due to their realism and edgy nature.

Image
Warner Bros. and DC are currently trying to build their own cinematic universe similar to how Marvel created their Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although Marvel spent years developing their characters in individual films before they all came together in The Avengers. Warner Bros. and DC on the other hand will be throwing many of their heroes in the same film for the first time in the upcoming film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

This may be a similar idea but far from the way that Marvel successfully created their cinematic universe. So what makes DC films stand out against Marvel's? Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara seems to think it is DC's diversity, "realism" and "edgier" nature.
"“The worlds of DC are very different,” he said. “They’re steeped in realism, and they’re a little bit edgier than Marvel’s movies.”"
Does the diversity of characters and the universe's realism and edgy nature draw you to DC films over Marvel?

New Game of Thrones parody song "Blank Page" parodies Taylor Swift with this amazing video!

Wesertos has just crossed realms with Taylor Swift in Nerdist's newest parody video and it is hilarious! This all new parody video is titled "Blank Page" and centers on author George R.R. Martin singing about creating the fan favorite character Daenerys Targaryen and the possibility that any character can die at any time in his books, including her. The video looks amazing and the lyrics had me laughing pretty hard. Also, the castle they used is gorgeous!
"The brutal but humorous song was penned by Freddy Scott, and the video was directed by Andrew Bowser and Ben Mekler. “Blank Page” stars: Nick Mundy as George R.R. Martin, Emily Rudd as Daenerys Targaryen, and Brandon Hillcock as Jon Snow."

Take a look at Ahsoka Tano's new lightsabers in Star Wars Rebels!

Image
*Spoilers for the season final of Star Wars Rebels.

The season finale of Star Wars Rebels saw the return of a fan favorite character that made everyone cheer out in excitement. Throughout Season 1 of the show Hera was in contact with a mysterious contact known as Fulcrum. Fulcrom handed missions to Hera which she carried out with the crew of her ship, the Ghost. Int he finale, we finally learned the identity of Fulcrum and it turned out to be Ahsoka Tano! Ahsoka was last seen leaving the Jedi order in the hit show Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Unfortunately, because of the show's cancellation, fans never learned where Ahsoka wound up. When we last saw Ahsoka she was about 16 years old. Now she is a full grown adult (about her early 30s) and a leader in the rebellion.

While talking to USA Today, Executive Producer Dave Filoni stated,
"She's a person who has a lot of her own trials that she still needs to get through," says Filoni, who sees Ahsoka in Rebels the same way he…

Possible first look at Battle Cat from the upcoming live action Masters of the Universe film!

This has come out of nowhere! A Masters of the Universe remake film has been slowly in the works for a while but hasn't seemed to get any traction lately. However, Senior VP of Production at Columbia Pictures, DeVon Franklin, may have just shown fans their first look at the film!

The really cool part about this is that he didn't show a set photo or a photo of He-Man. When asked about the progress of the film on Twitter Franklin replied, "Will know more soon. New chairman at sony, gotta get in sync with the studio. As soon as I know I'll report back." He then replied again with a photo of Battle Cat looking extremely badass! Franklin has not confirmed if this image is an actual photo from the film, a piece of concept art, or even a piece of fan art but it's clear that he definitely wants to get this film made. All the same, Batttle Cat looks amazing in this photo and I am hoping that it is real!

New Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer unleashes the war with Ultron and our first look at Vision!

Image
Wow! Marvel has released trailer #3 for Avengers: Age of Ultron and it may be the best one to date! Fans will definitely be shouting with exciting by the end of this trailer. There are several different moments in this trailer that showcase the entire team together in a truly badass shot but it will be the closing moment that will make your jaw drop!

The moment at 1:08 where the entire Avengers team is jumping into battle (against human soldiers it seems) and at 1:21 where the team is standing across from Ultron, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver were truly fantastic. But seeing Vision at the end was by far the best part. We finally saw him! He has awesome robotic eyes too.

Avengers: Age of Ultron will open in theaters on May 1, 2015.

Powerful Doctor Who fan film, "Doctor Who - Seasons of War", delivers a deep message about the War Doctor!

Image
I came across this Doctor Who fan film created by YouTuber "A Crow Trod"  (and directed by Andy Robinson) and was incredibly impressed. It is titled "Doctor Who - Seasons of War" and focuses on John Hurt's War Doctor.

It is unique in that the it is narrated by an observer watching the War Doctor and it never fully reveals the War Doctor and his face. I thought that was a bold choice but it worked out wonderfully here. The ending, as well as the overall message, is incredibly powerful and I know that Doctor Who fans will definitely love this video.
"'Seasons of War' is an unofficial short film, which features the character of the War Doctor from the BBC TV series, and has been created to help promote an anthology of specially-commissioned stories about him - all in aid of the UK charity, Caudwell Children." Enjoy!

Dragon Ball Z live action fan film pilot for "Dragon Ball Z: Light of Hope" puts the 2009 film to shame!

Image
Machinima, along with creater "RobotUnderdog2", has been developing a Dragon Ball Z project called "Dragon Ball Z: Light of Hope" and they have officially released the pilot for the web series. I never got into Dragon Ball Z myself, and the awful 2009 film didn't help interest me, but I cannot deny how great this video looks. I know for certain that fans of the franchise will really enjoy it. The costumes look perfect, the visuals and special effects are fantastic, and the big fight sequence was a lot of fun.

Film synopsis:
"Hope is worth fighting for. In Dragon Ball Z: Light of Hope, Gohan and Trunks fight against the unstoppable Androids #17 and #18 and try to save as many human lives as possible. The young Trunks must grow up quickly and learn from his mentor, Gohan; but with battles to fight on both the outside and inside, how long can they endure, and where will they find a light of hope? Funny "Batman v Superman v Iron Man v Captain America: Dawn of Civil War" parody video points out the films' similarities!

Image
When Captain America: Civil War was announced by Marvel fans starting making funny comparisons to DC's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Both stories will loosely share some similarities and originally these two films were set to come out on the same day. That has since changed.

On one side you have Captain America vs Iron Man and on the other you have Batman vs Superman (or "v" Superman if you get technical). This amazingly funny video from Dorkly pokes fun of the two films with some great observations and jokes while animated in the art of an old school video game. The video is titled "Batman v. Superman v. Iron Man v. Captain America: Dawn of Civil War" and is well worth watching. It even has some surprise guest appearances. If you had to pick one film over the other which are you more excited for?
