Nintendo's Splatoon has Easter eggs for 8-bit Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda!

Image
As we approach the launch date of Nintendo's upcoming third person shooter Splatoon, the anticipation keeps on building. To increase the game's greatness, a new discovery had been made by GameXplain that is a lot of fun. It appears as though Splatoon will have Easter eggs in it for fellow Nintendo games Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda from the original NES. On one of the maps in the game you will find an 8-bit Blooper from Super Mario Bros. on a poster on a wall and on another wall you'll find an 8-bit Octorok from The Legend of Zelda! There is also a Mario reference on a tee shirt you can purchase for your inkling that features Mario warp pipes and coins. These may be small references but they are still really cool. Watch the video below to see what they look like.

Splatoon will be on store shelves for the Wii U on May 29, 2015.

Composer John Williams speaks about creating the score for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Image
With the return of the Star Wars saga comes the return of the iconic music composer John Williams. Williams has scored every film in the franchise thus far and has created some truly legendary pieces for it (as well as other iconic films). For a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Vanity Fair's Bruce Handy sat down with John Williams and spoke about what it is like composing the score for the new film.

"Bruce Handy: Now that you’re scoring your seventh Star Wars movie, do you find that you approach the series differently in terms of your creative process compared with other films or series you’ve worked on?  John Williams: Very much so. It’s all a continuation of an initial set of ideas. It’s a bit like adding paragraphs to a letter that’s been going on for a number of years. Starting with a completely new film, a story that I don’t know, characters that I haven’t met, my whole approach to writing music is completely different—trying to find an identity, trying to find melodi…

Community pays tribute to the elevator scene from Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Image
Community paid tribute to Marvel with a recreation of the elevator fight scene from Captain America: The Winter Solider. However, in true Community fashion, instead of having actual guns in the scene there were paintball guns. Dean Craig Pelton (Jim Rash) takes the role of Captain America and his students take the various roles of Hyrdra agents.

This is a really fun tribute and works on many levels since Joe and Anthony Russo, directors of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, worked on Community before becoming a part of the Marvel family. The pair are now signed on to direct Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2.

The Flash season 2 will introduce more speedsters and a surprising character returns as a show regular!

Image
The season finale of The Flash was filled with twists and turns and all the DC Easter eggs that a fan could ask for. It certainly raised the bar for all other super hero shows in terms of how a finale should look.

*Possible spoilers ahead for the Season 1 finale.

While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, The Flash executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed two very interesting things about the show's second season. The season 1 finale saw the character Harrison Wells, played by Tom Cavenagh, turn into the real Reverse Flash, Eobard Thawne, before he was defeated. When asked what that meant for Tom Cavanagh's future with the show Kreisberg responded:

"Tom Cavanagh will be back. That is not in question. Tom Cavanagh will continue to be a regular." In regards to more "speedsters" appearing in the next season Kreisberg stated:

New Suicide Squad set photos show off a new outfit for Harley Quinn, Joker, and Joker's Lamborghini!

As filming continues for Suicide Squad in Toronto the set photos continue to surface. An interesting new scene was just shot betweem Margot Robbie, playing Harley Quinn, and Jared Leto, playing Joker.

The first thing these set photos confirm is that the tattoos that we saw in the Joker's first promotional photo are definitely in the film. I'm still not on board for all those tattoos, especially the forehead one that reads "Damaged", but we'll have to see how much of them we see in the film. We also see that Joker will be driving a shiny Magenta Lamborghini in the film. This scene also seems like it may be a flashback as we get a glimpse of Margot Robbie in a new outfit that looks like she may be her former self Dr. Harleen Quinzel.

Suicide Squad will be in theaters on August 5, 2016.

Watch the sketch animation that shows an alternate Captain America: The Winter Soldier opening sequence.

Image
Take a look at this awesome new video that shares an alternate opening sequence for the Marvel film Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The final released version of the film opened with Steve Rogers running laps around the reflecting pool in Washington D.C. and meeting Sam Wilson but this alternate sequence has Steve Rogers dreaming about his time in World War II with Bucky and the Howling Commandos. An alarm starts to sound and as Steve wakes we learn that Dum Dum Dugan has just passed away which explains the dream that he was having.

It's a great sequence but I think opening with the calm morning run / character meeting was a great way to open up the film before launching into all the action. Watch the video below and let me know which sequence you enjoy better.

The Flash and Supergirl meet on the cover of Variety and get ready to race!

The DC television world just collided on the cover of Variety as The Flash (Grant Gustin) and Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) posed with show producer Greg Berlanti. Grant Gustin posted the Variety cover as well as a fantastic shot of him and Melissa Benoist just goofing off and having fun posing as though their characters were about to race each other. As Greg Berlanti is also the executive producer for Arrow I was surprised not to see Stephen Amell in these photos but his character doesn't have the same playful nature as these two so I am not upset about it. I think this pairing works well together and the photos look great.

This is so cool. Working with @gberlanti is a dream and being on the cover of Variety with him and @melissabenoist in our work suits is also a dream. A photo posted by Grant Gustin (@grantgust) on May 18, 2015 at 9:55am PDT

Man at Arms: Reforged creates the Predator Wrist Blades from Alien vs. Predator!

Image
In the latest video of Man At Arms: Reforged, the crew over at Baltimore Knife and Sword created the Predator Wrist Blades from the film Alien vs Predator. The great thing about this particular build is that not only does it look completely badass but it is completely functional as well! They built the full gauntlet that is worn on the Predator's wrist and the blades are retractable and have a release lever to have them eject out into "battle mode". The resulting weapon is amazing. You can watch the entire creation process in the video below. Enjoy!

New Pixels trailer gives fans fun, new footage and story info!

Image
The second trailer for Pixels has been released and it continues to make the movie look like all kinds of fun. This new trailer shows fans plenty of new footage but it more importantly shows them who the main characters in the film are and why they are chosen to fight off an invasion of killer video game characters.

"As kids in the 1980s, Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), Will Cooper (Kevin James), Ludlow Lamonsoff (Josh Gad), and Eddie “The Fire Blaster” Plant (Peter Dinklage) saved the world thousands of times – at 25 cents a game in the video arcades. Now, they’re going to have to do it for real. In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens discover video feeds of classic arcade games and misinterpret them as a declaration of war, they attack the Earth, using the video games as the models for their assaults -- and now-U.S. President Cooper must call on his old-school arcade friends to save the world from being destroyed by PAC-MAN, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Centipede, and Space Invaders. The real life wars that inspired Game of Thrones.

Image
Books and films are often inspired by real life events and people and George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones series is no different. This fantastic video walks you through the various real life events that inspired the drama that unfolds in Martin's stories.
"Beginning around 1377, medieval England was shaken by a power struggle between two noble families, which spanned generations and involved a massive cast of characters, complex motives and shifting loyalties. Sound familiar? Alex Gendler illustrates how the historical conflict known as the Wars of the Roses served as the basis for much of the drama in Game of Thrones." Enjoy!

New animated trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice puts the film in Bruce Timm's DC animated universe!

Image
This clever recreation of the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer imagines that the film is taking place in the DC animated universe and couldn't be cooler. I'd love to see the amazing animation style of Bruce Timm on the big screen and this trailer proves it would be great.
"When the Batman v Superman trailer came out, people started parodying and copying it like wildfire. I decided to join in the shenanigans. I have been drawing in Bruce Timm's famed DC Animated Universe style since the age of 0 and am currently working on a DCAU webcomic with fellow superhero enthusiast Ted Kendrick." Enjoy!

Funny Star Wars prank has Darth Vader and Stormtroopers chasing down Wicket and civilians.

Image
Take a look at this humorous video that is clearly from one of those cheesy prank shows (complete with corny sound affects. The video features the Star Wars character Wicket (an ewok) running up to a random person in an alley and handing them Darth Vader's lightsaber and then running away before a squadron of stormtroopers and Darth Vader himself show up looking for the lightsaber. The peoples' reaction to the costumed characters is really funny. Enjoy!
