Mark Hamill reveals the original opening scene to Star Wars: The Force Awakens!

For a long time there were rumors that Star Wars: The Force Awakens would have a much different opening scene. One that would use some intense imagery to connect it to the original trilogy and to push part of the story forward.

Mark Hamill has revealed in an interview with Uproxx that this was indeed true and has revealed what the original opening scene looked like.

"“One day I read the first 15 minutes of the film absolutely accurately” he said. “I can tell you now that in the original opening shot of 7, the first thing that came into frame was a hand with a lightsaber, a severed hand that enters the atmosphere, and then the hand and bone burns away and goes sticking into the surface of Jakku” he added. “And this alien hand comes in, don’t know if it was Maz but it was an alien hand who takes the light saber way, and then the movie proceeds as you see it.”"
Maybe we will still see a flashback scene like this when Maz tells the story of how she got Luke's lightsaber. It is an interesting scene and one that gives fans an answer to the "Where did it come from?" question that they have been asking for a long time.

What do you think of this opening scene? Should they have kept it or do you think the opening scene that was used fits better?
