Marvel will release a Star Wars: Captain Phasma comic miniseries revealing how she escaped Starkiller Base.

Fans were excited to see how Gwendolyn Christie's Captain Phasma would play into the story of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. However, when it turned out that the character and her amazing armor would be underused and eventually tossed into the trash compactor on Starkiller Base by Finn, fans felt a little cheated. Disney had built her character up so much and you hardly saw her in the film.

It turns out that Disney was not done with her yet. You saw a brief glimpse of Captain Phasma in the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer. How did she survive the trash compactor? How did she survive the destruction of Starkiller Base? Marvel has you covered.

A new four issue comic miniseries is going to be released by Marvel Comics to tell Phasma's story and fill the gap from The Force Awakens to The Last Jedi

The comic is being written by Kelly Thompson (Hawkeye, A-Force) and will include art from Marco Checchetto (Gamora, Star Wars: Shattered Empire). Speaking about the project, Kelly Thompson stated,
"“It’s exciting enough when someone lets you contribute to the Star Wars universe in any real way, but when they let you create the first ever Phasma story for comics? Well, that’s about as good as it gets! Like most, I’m a huge fan of both Gwendoline Christie and Phasma. Christie is magnetic and Phasma has so much fascinating untapped potential…potential which I can’t wait to help unlock for fans in our comic.”"
Artist Marco Checchetto shared his excited on working on this upcoming project.
"“With this series, I’ve had the opportunity to work on each era of Star Wars. Obi-Wan and Anakin in the prequel era, Shattered Empire and The Screaming Citadel in the classic trilogy, and now in the new era of Star Wars. I’m thrilled to be working on new characters. I’m a huge fan of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and obviously can’t wait to see Star Wars: The Last Jedi. We have not seen much of Phasma, and I’m very excited to explore more of this character. Kelly is a great writer. I can’t wait to read her script and start work on the series!”"
It'll be really interesting to see how Captain Phasma escaped and to learn more about her character. Are you excited about a Captain Phasma comic from Marvel?

At the moment there is no released date set for the miniseries. Stay tuned for more info.
